TODD RACES TO PROVISIONAL NO. 2 AT INDY
Fri, Aug. 29th 2008

INDIANAPOLIS – J.R. Todd set the early pace in Friday’s NHRA qualifying for the 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park with his terrific run of 3.873 seconds, 309.91 mph before Cory McClenathan upstaged his Lucas Oil production placing the Lawrenceburg, Ind., driver in the provisional No. 2 slot.

“I’m just glad it went from A to B and down the track,” said a happy Todd. “It’s been a while since we’ve done that on Friday right out of the box. It’s been pretty much our Achilles’ heel all year for us to make that good qualifying pass early in the weekend. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can now try to tune it up to make some more good, quick and consistent passes down the track the rest of the weekend.”

Qualifying continues on Saturday, with runs at 1:45 and 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 1:45 and 3:40 p.m. with the start of the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at 11 a.m. on Labor Day Monday.
