IT’S ALL OR NAUGHT FOR ARANA IN CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE
Sun, Aug. 31st 2008

INDIANAPOLIS – For Hector Arana, the rider of the Lucas Oil Buell Pro Stock Motorcycle, it’s all or nothing for the Milltown, Ind., resident in tomorrow’s 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park.

Arana enters Monday’s major event in the enviable No. 2 starting position with his time of 6.954 seconds, 189.79 mph and sits in the No. 11 position in the NHRA POWERade points, trailing fellow competitor, Karen Stoffer by only 12 points going into the race and after qualifying so well Arana narrowed that gap to six.  Despite the points, it’s all depends on who turns on the win light in the opening round when this pair of riders square off in the first round of Monday’s eliminations.

“Karen’s husband, Gary, said he wished we could race against each other and that way it would be all over,” said a smiling Arana.  “So I guess you can say his wish came true.  Now’s it’s my wish to get this done and we’ll just have to see what happens tomorrow.  A while back, I was worried about making the Countdown to the Championship and started making mistakes.  I’m just going to take one run at a time and do my job.  I just wish in our first round tomorrow, there wasn’t so much pressure.

“I’m so fortunate to be in this position and I could not have done it without the Lucas Oil family because they made it all possible for me.  Without them I wouldn’t be here right now.”

ESPN2 will air two programs tomorrow with the first airing at 12 noon EDT showing the opening rounds and that will be followed by the finals coming on at 7 p.m.
