LANGDON REACHES SECOND ROUND IN LUCAS OIL RAIL
Sun, Feb. 14th 2010

POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 14) -- Lucas Oil/Speedco Top Fuel dragster racer Shawn Langdon made it to the second round at the 50th annual Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals before falling to No. 1 qualifier Cory McClenathan.

"I'm real pleased with our weekend," Langdon said. "It would have been cool to get past Cory but he had a good car all weekend. He just beat us.

"We lost to him first round last year, so we're already ahead of where we were last year at this time."

Langdon won his first-round matchup against Dave Grubnic. The Lucas Oil/Speedco dragster ran a 3.855 at 315.93 mph as Grubnic broke at the starting line. In the second round, Langdon got .027-second advantage at the line, but didn't have the horsepower to hold of McClenathan, who ran a 3.855 at 314.39 mph compared to Langdon's 3.916 at 306.74 mph.

"We're running close to all the other top teams, which is good," Langdon said. "The guys are happy and we've got no complaints."

Langdon will be back in action Feb. 19-21 at the 26th annual Arizona NHRA Nationals from Firebird Raceway in Phoenix.
